Wooden Art Deco Doorway

The Art Deco style doorways are as a norm made from metal sheets and/or ironwork ornaments, appropriate materials for the production line machine era in which this architectural and decorative style came to the fore. Consequently, the wooden doorway examples are encountered in a much smaller proportion. There is an apparent charming incongruity between the wood as a construction material and the modernist rectangular designs typical of the Art Deco style. That makes the Art Deco architectural details made from wood, such as the doorway I photographed above, even more remarkable and delectable. I like how the softness of the wood mellows down the somehow stern rectangular shapes and motifs, making the doorway and the entire house even more inviting to the guests that have to cross its threshold.
