A textbook 1890s Little Paris style house in Bucharest, from the La Belle Epoque period, when Romania’s capital, fresh after half a millennium within the Middle Eastern polity of the Ottoman Empire and its civilisation, wanted practically over the night to become European, ie Parisian, or bust, a sort of “socialismo o muerte” architectural approach. #littleparis #labelleepoque #bucharest #1890s #architecturephotography #balkans #southeasteurope #casedeepoca
Hello, Valentin,
Any idea why it was moved to the “Heroes of the Revolution” section? Seems an odd place…

In its former location, Carol Park, the mosque got in the way of the newly built Communist Heroes Mausoleum and that is why they decided to move it to the actual location. The demolition/ destruction was out of the question as that would have alienated Bucharest’s Muslim community an irked the Islamic countries’ embassies. VM
