Many historic properties in Romania’s capital suffer because of neglect or lack of resources from their impoverished and elderly owners to properly maintain and restore/ renovate such once beautiful buildings. The above image is just one example from the once glittering Carol Park area of Bucharest, now a very run down part of the city, containing many historic buildings in need of urgent repair, or damaged by unkind renovations performed by ignorant owners and entrepreneurs.

I endeavor through this daily image series to inspire appreciation of the historic houses of Romania, a virtually undiscovered, but fascinating chapter of European architectural heritage.
